the Bush-Spa, a unique location
A relaxing holistic treatment is the ideal way to break up a tiring safari, with early morning and late afternoon activities often leaving a sizeable, “massage” shaped hole in the middle of your day.
For this reason, Personal Touch in cooperation with Mfuwe Lodge created the Bush-Spa in the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia.
The setting is dreamy, on a secluded deck next to a lagoon that sees permanent heavy hippo traffic and a wide diversity of other animal visitors. This provides a unique soundtrack to your treatment, with the constant grunt and gurgle of hippo pods given a more musical backing by birdsong and antelope alarm calls.
Our spa has individual and couples’ treatment rooms and a luxurious Jacuzzi, all in open-sided compartments that allow you to enjoy the living soundtrack and feel the natural breeze in your hair. The treatment menu includes all the classic spa staples with a local twist, utilising indigenous African oils and local techniques to offer intriguing options such as an African Goddess Anti-Ageing Facial, a Luangwa Valley Mud Wrap and the varied Big Five Pampering Hydrotherapy Packages
Ease yourself into Luangwa life
The Award winning Mfuwe Lodge is set inside the park, just five minutes’ drive from the main gate. The lodge’s allure is instantly obvious. Beneath a canopy of ebony and mahogany, its thatched buildings are arranged around the banks of two lagoons where an endless stream of wildlife will keep you enthralled as you lounge on the open deck or take a dip in the swimming pool.
Thanks to a thorough refurbishment in 2010 the airy interior of the lodge is an exquisite complement to its natural surroundings. This region of the park is renowned for its prolific game – giraffe, buffalo, antelope, crocodile are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon, whilst in November the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree.
Whether you stay overnight, or just have lunch en route to a bushcamp, Mfuwe Lodge’s relaxed charm and enviable surroundings make it the perfect stopover.
Obviously the Bush-Spa is a "not to miss" feature of Mfuwe lodge!
